Constanta, a 900,000 euro deal with the World Bank

Constanta is the first city in the world to work directly with the World Bank, usually this institution assisting countries. With a duration of 36 months and a value of 900,000 euros, the new agreement will increase the appetite for investment in this city, according to Mayor Decebal Făgădău.

Under this agreement, the city of Constanta will benefit from technical assistance and expertise provided by international specialists of the World Bank, in the field of urban development, News.ro reports.

"As long as all reports, all studies and projects are related to indicators developed by the World Bank, I think it is important that Constanta municipality presents itself with some figures and some data audited by such a serious institution as the World Bank," stated the Mayor of Constanta.

He thinks that if he will speak about the city’s debt, the unemployment rate or the discrepancy between the education system and the labor market, his words would be interpreted with the subjectivism of political affiliation.

"When the World Bank, with its rigidities and internal procedures, develops a study, that study becomes a reference for everything that means planning and development. I expect that after this collaboration with the World Bank, the investment appetite for Constanta will grow," Făgădău added.
