Austrian A-Heat Group invests over 30 million Euro in thermal water spa facility

A-Heat, a leading and globally active group of companies specialized in refrigeration engineering, air conditioning, as well as process engineering, with shares in leading industrial enterprises, plans to make Bucharest the thermal capital of Europe through an investment that will exceed 50 million EUR after completion. The project, started in 2013, is fully funded by A-Heat Vienna but also benefits from  Romanian financial state aid amounting to 6,64 million EUR. To date,  investment in necessary  facilities is estimated at 30 million EUR but this will increase to over 50 million after additions will be made to the initial project.

The center, which is supposed to open later this year, will put the capital city of Romania on the map of the biggest thermal recreational centers in Europe. Around four million people from Bucharest and the surrounding areas will be able to enjoy the benefits of this new complex according to the investor's estimation.

Hubert Spegel, CEO of A-HEAT GROUP AG also noted that Therme Bucharest is expected to create around 200 jobs and approximately ten million EUR in taxes for the next five years. "Romania has a longstanding tradition wen it comes to the quality of its thermal waters. The quality of these waters is world renowned and unique and, along with the over 800.000 rare or unique plants, will make this complex into a year round attraction for tourists and locals looking to relax. Bucharest in particular is the second biggest thermal city in Europe, second only the the world's oldest and most renowned, Rome. Therefore, this project will make Bucharest the number one such place “in terms of size, architectural and technical complexity as well as recreational and entertainment facilities”.
