Four of the largest hypermarket chains in Romania are extending their product range by including a selection of more than 35 vegetables provided by domestic producers. Over 200 farmers in southern Romania will supply starting June, about 10,000 tons of vegetables to hypermarkets across the country under the new programme, “Dor de gust”, launched by producers and merchants for promoting domestic production, announces Agerpres....more »

Services provided by the private medical operator Gral Medical have generated increasing revenues in the first half of this year, in spite of a rather stagnating domestic market, the company announces. The Czech-based group, Solek, has been provided over 6.1 million euro for refinancing four of its solar parks in Romania whose total installed power capacity totals 8.58 MW. Refinancing of two of these PV projects (a total of 3.58 MW) is ensured by Garanti Leasing, while the other two, with a cumulated power capacity of 5 MW are supported through a refinance agreement concluded with OTP Bank Romania, the company announced....more »

E-commerce has been rapidly advancing in recent years, the trend being preserved in 2014, too, when the accelerated growth rate has been maintained, according to online payment processor PayU. The data processed within the first five months of the year shows a 30 percent increase in terms of transactions with Romanian e-tailers followed by online payment. Following approval of the World Bank's Board of Executive Directors earlier this year, Ioana-Maria Petrescu, the Minister of Public Finance, Liviu Voinea, the Minister Delegate for Budget and Elisabetta Capannelli, Country Manager at the World Bank’s Romanian Office concluded the agreement for two loans coming to 1 billion euro to be provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
