Erste Group Bank AG together with Banca Comercială Română (BCR) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provide a financing worth 76 million euro for the construction of the 108 MW wind farm Crucea North, located in the Dobrogea region. The project which consists of 36 wind turbines, each one with a power capacity of 3 MW, is developed by Crucea Wind Farm S.A. that is fully owned by STEAG GmbH, a leading power producer in Germany. Romania’s Energy Regulatory Authority, ANRE, has issued a decree establishing for 2013 an obligatory quota of green certificates to be purchased by electricity suppliers of 0.224 green certificates (GCs) for each MW produced. Following the loss of nearly 277 million euro in 2012, BCR has recorded a major advance last year, posting a profit of some 134 million euro on a significantly better operating result which balanced the costs related to risk provisions that are still high.
