Exports level reaches record high in October 2013 when the FOB (Free On Board) exports amounted to 4.7 billion euro. EPC contractor Martifer Solar, the Romanian subsidiary of Martifer SGPS has completed the construction of two photovoltaic plants – one with an installed capacity of 2.03MW located in Halchiu, Brasov County and other of 3.38MW in Magurele, near Bucharest. The project was developed for Eurowind Energy A/S, Martifer being responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the two PV plants....more »

GarantiBank provided a refinancing of 10 million euro to Tinmar, one of the largest private electricity traders in Romania. The amount is for a photovoltaic plant having an installed capacity of 10MW located in Bucsani, Giurgiu County, which is part of an 18.5MW solar park inaugurated this summer. This loan does not cover but 70% of the whole investment worth 15 million euro, being granted for an almost ten-year period, according to a press release from the bank....more »

Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) adjusted the composition of its indices and rebalanced them after the Index Committee meeting past Tuesday, December 3. Following the adjustment, the shares of both Romgaz (symbol SNG) and Nuclearelectrica (symbol SNN) were included in BET, BET-XT, BET-BK and, consequently, in BET-NG and BET-C indices....more »

China and Central-East Europe Economic Forum, George Enescu Festival, UEFA Europe League 2012 Final or even the recent football game between Romania and Greece do not seem to have very much in common. Yet, the Bucharest’s hospitality industry surely has a distinct point of view – these events are highly important income sources for the industry. Unfortunately, they are also isolated, remaining occasional, but very welcome revenue resources moreover since the profit from the leisure tourism segment is almost non-existent for some of those in this branch....more »

Despite an increase close to 60% of the average price of agricultural land over the past two years, Romania is still low-priced compared with most of the European countries. According to Mediafax, a report released by DTZ Echinox indicates an average price of 3.100 euro/ha, a price that is 2 up to 8 times lower than in other states across Europe....more »

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) decided to align to Europe’s major stock exchanges trading program which ends at 18:00 p.m. EET, according to a BVB’s release. BVB will extend therefore the trading program for the following financial instruments of the regulated spot market – shares, fund units and rights, from 16:45 to 18:00 p.m. starting January 3, 2014 when the first trading session of the next year is scheduled. ASF (the Financial Supervisory Authority) approved this change last week.  ...more »
