Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) adjusted the composition of its indices and rebalanced them after the Index Committee meeting past Tuesday, December 3. Following the adjustment, the shares of both Romgaz (symbol SNG) and Nuclearelectrica (symbol SNN) were included in BET, BET-XT, BET-BK and, consequently, in BET-NG and BET-C indices....more »

Hidroelectrica’s recently appointed Supervisory Board had its first meeting on December 3, 2013, George Cristodorescu being elected as president. China and Central-East Europe Economic Forum, George Enescu Festival, UEFA Europe League 2012 Final or even the recent football game between Romania and Greece do not seem to have very much in common. Yet, the Bucharest’s hospitality industry surely has a distinct point of view – these events are highly important income sources for the industry. Unfortunately, they are also isolated, remaining occasional, but very welcome revenue resources moreover since the profit from the leisure tourism segment is almost non-existent for some of those in this branch....more »

Romania improves its performance in 2013, increasing to five the number of companies listed in the Deloitte Technology FAST 500 EMEA 2013 ranking, compared with the previous two years when there were four companies ranked: Vola.ro (ranked 17), TeamNet International (217), Crys Computers (333), SmartTel (487) and Fortech (491). ...more »

Despite an increase close to 60% of the average price of agricultural land over the past two years, Romania is still low-priced compared with most of the European countries. According to Mediafax, a report released by DTZ Echinox indicates an average price of 3.100 euro/ha, a price that is 2 up to 8 times lower than in other states across Europe....more »

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) decided to align to Europe’s major stock exchanges trading program which ends at 18:00 p.m. EET, according to a BVB’s release. BVB will extend therefore the trading program for the following financial instruments of the regulated spot market – shares, fund units and rights, from 16:45 to 18:00 p.m. starting January 3, 2014 when the first trading session of the next year is scheduled. ASF (the Financial Supervisory Authority) approved this change last week.  ...more »

Hidroelectrica’s General Meeting of Shareholders approved a new stage of the strategy that implies the selling of some of the micro hydros from its portfolio. There are 14 hydro powers divided in seven assets packages that will be on sale through an open outcry auction which will be conducted on January 23 and 24, 2014. According to the informing published by Hidroelectrica on its website, the starting price for the full package being approximately 10.4 million euro (46.2 million lei)....more »

After connecting the Colibasi photovoltaic plant to the national power grid in early October, Enel Green Power (EGP) checks another functional solar plant that has been connected to the domestic grid recently, a press release announces. This is the company’s fourth PV plant in Romania and is located in Podari, Dolj County, having a capacity of 10MW. ...more »
