Romania's Ministry of Communications and Information Society (MSI) chose Bulboaca si Asociatii law firm to provide legal support in the privatization of Romtelecom. Upon the ArcelorMittal's decision on adding EUR66million to its capital during the Shareholders General Assembly on January 26, 2012, SIF Moldova, one of the minor shareholders started a legal action in order to possibly annul it. While Petrom approximates its investment will reach EUR1.2 billion this year, in 2014 they're going to invest about EUR0.8 - 1 billion in the business, said Mariana Gheorghe, General Director at Petrom, during the Reuters Investment Summit held in September.Gheorghe also talked about the possibility of Petrom expanding its business by entering the shale gas field, after Gerhard Rois, president at OMV (the group that owns Petrom) said last year that Romania should extract shale gas if geological studies indicated significant reserves....more »

Rosia Montana mining project has seized the public attention becoming a hot spot about three weeks ago when the Romanian Government sent to the Parliament a draft law to approve the start of mining in the area. The law in question, if voted, would have enabled the State to enforce locals living in the targeted mining area to relocate. Thousands of people throughout Romania have started a protest against this project and eventually succeeded to make their voice heard loud enough so that politicians stepped back fearing valuable voters support in the next elections. Timisoara Airport wants to build an intermodal terminal to ensure a connection between airport and transportation in order to possibly increase the number of passengers. The new terminal might bring 2 million more passengers according to the estimates Daniel Idolu, General Director at ‘Traian Vuia’ International Airport announced. ‘We consider building an intermodal terminal in Timisoara so that the transfer between aircraft and transportation is faster, to have an integrated system and merchants to provide tickets for public transportation. ...more »
