Before Prime Minister Ciolos visits Canada in mid-June, Canada has sent a technical mission to Bucharest that is going to arrive this week in order to evaluate the situation of the frontiers, the passport service and other technicalities concerning the circulation of the citizens. Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) reacted at Vladimir Putin’s declaration in Greece on the 27th of May, when, during a press conference with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, he stated that Romania and Poland could be in the radius of action for Russian rockets since they host the American anti-rocket system, that is considered to be a threat to Moscow.  MAE declared themselves surprised by the declaration since Romania and its allies explained several times that the system is not directed against Russia, it is purely defensive, and this could be “a threat to regional security”....more »

Klaus Iohannis and Ukrainian President Petro Porosenko have signed Thursday during Porosenko's official visit at Cotroceni, a protocol for the relaunching of the Presidential Mixt Committee. According to Iohannis, the Committee will be an instrument that will impulsionate the two countries to solve the existing themes on the bilateral agenda, and will allow them to "fully value the potential of cooperation" between the countries, giving the example of the Bastroe canal. European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Jourova said in a press conference at the European Commission office in Bucharest that the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism will be kept in 2016, as the recently released report includes both progress registered by Romania and things that still need to be worked on.
