Automobile Dacia will resume production in Romania starting April 21

Starting with April 21, the production activities of the two Dacia plants in Romania will be resumed on a voluntary basis in a reduced work team and from May 4, the activities of both plants will be restarted in full work capacity.

Automobile Dacia initially stopped production at the plants in Mioveni on March 19 until April 5, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, and 13,500 employees entered technical unemployment. Groupe Renault Romania subsequently announced that it is extending the period of interruption of production activity "in the context of the spread of COVID-19 virus globally and the evolution of the health crisis".

The employees of Ford factory in Craiova also have been in technical unemployment since March 19, 2020, receiving a 75% compensation from the basic salary. The period was extended until April 30, according to a company announcement. At European level, Volkswagen has delayed restarting production until April 19, while KIA has restarted its plant in Slovakia since the beginning of the week.
