China’s electric engineering corporation to refurbish the thermal power plant at Deva-Mintia

China National Electric Engineering Corporation (CNEEC) will run a project worth 271 million dollar for the refurbishment of Unit 4 at Deva thermal power plant, also developing the facilities for the operation of Units 3 and 4, reads Mediafax.

The associated contract was concluded during the visit to China of Prime Minister Victor Ponta and is expected to be signed by Aurel Niculescu, general manager of Hunedoara Energy Complex and by Xin Chunsheng, president of CNEEC’s Board on September 1.

Romania’s delegation led by Victor Ponta had a business meeting with representatives of Chinese companies during which Costantin Nita, the Minister of Economy, invited Chinese investors to join other energy projects such as the hydropower station from Turnu Magurele – Nicopole to be built by Romania and Bulgaria, the small hydropower plants which will be built on the Prut river or the submarine power cable between Romania and Turkey.

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta started on August 30 a five-day official visit to China after his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang, invited him as a response to the visit paid to Romania in November 2013. The Romanian delegation additionally includes Liviu Dragnea, Daniel Constantin, both Deputy Prime Ministers, Ioan Rus, Minister of Transport, as well as Ponta’s wife, MEP Daciana Sarbu.
