Romania's plan to adopt the euro to be submitted by April 2017

Minister of Public Finance Anca Dragu announced that the Government will present to the European Commission a plan on adopting the euro by April 2017 as it is an obligation of the Member States to state their position on the adoption of the single currency. "In April 2017 the Government will present to the European Commission in the convergence program, a plan on the euro. It is an obligation of Member States to say that their position on the matter. It would have been nice to be able to adopt euro in 2018, when we celebrate a hundred years of modern history. But that is not possible. Basically we need to have a comprehensive analysis of time-bound and specific measures so that the Romanian economy to become flexible and able to give to coin its own currency and adopt a currency area. I personally am a supporter, "said Anca Dragu.
