As expected, the first meeting of TAROM’s new Board of Directors meant the election of its president. Dante Stein, the Honorary Adviser to Prime Minister has been appointed this position, while Manuel Donescu, Secretary of State for Transport, was designated to fill the Vice President position, TAROM informs through a press release.
Furthermore, the new Board set the first working committees – Corporate Governance Committee, Nomination and Remuneration and Audit Committee. Also, as previously announced by Ramona Manescu, the Minister of Transport, during this first meeting the Board confirmed the annulment of the former members’ decision concerning the shortening of Christian Heinzmann’s mandate from four to one year. Thus, the current CEO of TAROM will continue his initial mandate of four years since the previous decision was considered to be against the statutory provisions.
Having the working committees established, the newly installed Board of Directors aims to direct all their efforts so that TAROM becomes a performance company: ‘We will mobilize all forces that have an important role in maximizing this company’s performance and we will do that in a professional, transparent and responsible way. I consider that TAROM, as a majorly state-owned company, represents a high interest to the public, but I would like that from now on, to see that fewer debate are held through the media and focus instead on resolving the company’s problems. TAROM has a strategic position, of Romania’s Ambassador. We want to re-launch it so that it takes the place it deserves.’ Dante Stein said as per the respective press release.
TAROM’s General Meeting of Shareholders conveyed by Romania’s Ministry of Transport has recently dismissed all members of the Board of Directors due to the conflict arose upon deciding to shorten the CEO’s mandate to one year.
The new Board of Directors comprises, besides Daniel Stein and Manuel Donescu, of other three members: Florin Luca (Banking Strategy Advisor), Bogdan Speteanu (General Manager of BCR Leasing) and Razvan Filipescu (President of the National Authority for Tourism).
