Sameday reports over 140% turnover increase, reaching 400 million lei and pursues international development

Sameday, one of the leaders of the courier market, celebrates 14 years since its founding and enters a stage of maturity, as the company pursues international development.

"The 14 years that Sameday has turned are, for me, proof that, in order to reach the age of the national ID card, a company must combine long-term vision with technology, courage to go on the path of innovation, perseverance and trust in people, with an organizational culture adapted to the reality in which we live. We started Sameday with the ambition of some pioneers and the dream of covering a niche market that was poorly explored in 2007, but which showed great potential, that of same-day deliveries. As we have evolved, we have realized that we can change traditional door-to-door, next-day courier services, with the help of internally built technology. Three years ago, we built an innovative delivery infrastructure from scratch, the easybox locker network, thus becoming leaders in out-of-home (OOH) deliveries. Throughout this period, our priority has been to build operational capacity to meet the future needs of our customers and to live up to our promises of service quality. The organic growth and the positive results, obtained through consistency, confirm that we are now a mature company and a reliable partner for over 20,000 sending customers and for several million receiving customers, ” says Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday.

The company ended the year 2020 with a turnover of approximately 400 million lei, 142% more than in 2019. The result is in accordance with the increased rate of use of electronic commerce, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, but is also due to constant investments in technology and in the development of logistics capacity.

In order to expand its delivery and sorting capacity, improve the customer experience and expand the network of easybox lockers, in 2020, the company invested over 20 million Euros in the development of strategic directions.

Moreover, the period 2020 - 2021 marked a series of key moments in the company's life. These include:

  • In 2020, according to KPMG, Sameday was the brand with the highest increase in consumer satisfaction that interacted with the company's services.
  • In 2021, Sameday announced the expansion in Hungary, where the company will provide, starting this year, complete courier services, designed to facilitate cross-border trade and offer customers the opportunity to increase their presence in the region and address new markets.
  • The easybox locker network has reached over 1,500 points, in Romania and in Hungary.

Sameday delivered 17 million parcels in the first half of this year

Stimulated by the upward direction of the online retail market, Sameday continues its development in 2021. If, in 2020, the company delivered over 30 million packages, the first half of 2021 recorded a significant increase, Sameday reaching 17 million packages delivered.

With the relaxation of measures to prevent the new coronavirus, consumers are gradually returning to traditional trade. However, the company's representatives anticipate that a large part of them will remain faithful to digital retail and that, in 2021, this trend will be a positive one, encouraged by the constantly increasing quality of courier services in Romania. Thus, Sameday expects that, by the end of the year, the number of shipments in the courier market will increase by more than 10% compared to the previous year.

The Sameday team currently has 3,500 employees and collaborators, 20% more than at the end of 2020. By the end of the year, the company's representatives estimate an increase of about 50% in human resources. The departments with the fastest development are the operational and commercial ones.

Sameday's fleet numbers about 3,000 cars, of which more than 30 are 100% electric, and another 50 are to be delivered in the coming months.
