Energy and transport sectors are interesting to Austrian investors

There is an interest from behalf of Austrian companies in investing in Romania, especially in the energy sector, as well as in the transport infrastructure field, according to Michael Schwarzinger, the Austrian Ambassador to Romania, who commented on this subject while attending Romanian Business Breakfast.

The conference organized by the Austria’s Commercial Bureau in Bucharest in cooperation with a hotel company was also attended by Andrei Gerea, Romania’s Minister of Economy who discussed about the ministry’s priorities within the next period. He again outlined that the Romanian Government and implicitly, the Ministry of Economy focus on stability and predictability.

Gerea pointed out the reorganization measures, those of fiscal stability, where possible, as well as the measures concerning the tax reduction the ministry took or promised to take in 2014. As stated by a press release from the ministry, a positive impact of those measures on the business environment has already been visible, determining an important economic growth last year, also corroborated by an increase in exports.

‘Romania provides proper conditions and has economic potential relative to foreign partners.(...) We need to exploit this potential both at political level and economic level.’, Andrei Gerea said, according to the mentioned source. He also showed his availability to discuss and cooperate with Austrian investors, stating that he aims at transforming the Ministry he manages into a point of contact and counseling for all investors.
