Corina Cretu, on the list of Commissioners-designate

Romanian MEP Corina Cretu was included on the list of Commissioner-designate sent by EU Commission’s President Jean-Claude Juncker to Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the President of the Council of the European Union, shows a press release of the Commission.

The official nomination follows a series of interviews Juncker held with the candidates over the past few days and the proposal for appointment, on August 30 of the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The proposed list with the candidates for the next Commission, as published on its website: Vytenis Andriukaitis (Lithuania), Andrus Ansip (Estonia), Miguel Arias Canete (Spain), Dimitris Avramapoulos (Greece), Elżbieta Bienkowska (Poland), Alenka Bratusek (Slovenia), Corina Cretu (Romania), Valdis Dombrovskis (Latvia), Kristalina Georgieva (Bulgaria), Johannes Hahn (Austria), Jonathan Hill (United Kingdom), Phil Hogan (Ireland), Vĕra Jourova (Czech Republic), Jyrki Katainen (Finland), Cecilia Malmstrom (Sweden), Neven Mimica (Croatia), Carlos Moedas (Portugal), Pierre Moscovici (France), Tibor Navracsics (Hungary), Günther Oettinger (Germany), Maros Sefcovic (Slovakia), Christos Stylianides (Cyprus), Marianne Thyssen (Belgium), Frans Timmermans (Netherlands), Karmenu Vella (Malta), Margrethe Vestager (Denmark).

The confirmation of the advanced list is subject to approval of the Council of the European Union. Once it is confirmed, the list will be published in the Official Journal of the EU. Afterwards, the distribution of portfolios and the new work strategy within the EU Commission will be announced by Juncker, yet, not earlier than mid-next week.

Subsequently, there will be hearings of the nominated Commissioners in the parliamentary committees. Their formal appointment will come after the European Parliament will give its consent to the College of Commissioners, including the President and the High-Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission.
