Dan Sova, the Minister of Transport, announced that near Timisoara, in Remetea Mare, will be made an investment of 22 million euro in a Freight Intermodal Center to serve companies from Romania and its neighbouring countries Serbia and Hungary. Part of the amount will be provided from European Funds, the local authorities being also responsible for ensuring partial financing, according to Mediafax.
“With respect to the Freight Intermodal Center in Remetea Mare, both feasibility study and technical project are completed, as well as technical and economic indicators. In the very next period we will initiate procedures for construction works bidding. There are also some issues which are ineligible and which is responsibility of the Timis County Council, such as the connection road to the Intermodal Center”,said Sova during a press conference held yesterday at Recas and quoted by the newswire.
The project covers an area of 30 hectares where will be built a complex of warehouses and exchange of containers, and a railway station for freight traffic, hence it will ensure freight transport by road, rail and air both abroad and across Romania.
