Bosch inaugurates the 77 mln euro investment in Cluj next month

Bosch’s new production facility based in Cluj will be officially inaugurated next month, on May 9, after testing and production started in late 2013. The 77 million euro worth investment project includes a research center operational since November, last year. Coordinated by an international team consisting of employees from Romania, Germany, France and Hungary, the production unit has been awarded the “Automotive Electronics Speed Award” for its rapid completion and how fast it became operational, an internal recognition in “Bosch’s world”, is stated by a press release.

With a total area of 38.000 sqm, the production and research unit is part of the Automotive Electronics division which incorporates 17 production plants throughout the world, specialized on the development and manufacturing of electronic control units, semiconductors and sensors for the automotive industry.  By the beginning of 2014, the center had employed 325 professionals, Bosch seeking to carry on with the recruitment process during the current year, at the same time foreseeing an expansion of the production capacity in the coming years.

Bosch Group has been present in the Romanian market since 1994, currently having four domestic branches in Bucharest, Blaj, Cluj and Timisoara. In Bucharest, Bosch operates a distribution unit, as well as BSH Electrocasnice, while in Timisoara, the German group established a communication center. Blaj and Cluj are the destinations chosen for its production facilities – in Blaj there was initially opened a production unit for linear technique, further extended with another unit for automotive industry, as the newest one from Cluj.
