Dedeman opens the third store in Bucharest

Dedeman today inaugurates the third store in Bucharest, in Colentina district, following investment of nearly 16 million euro, according to the DIY retailer. The inauguration comes after three weeks from the opening of another store in Deva, hence the company’s national network expands to 39 units and will be further increased, as Dedeman will open a new establishment shortly, this time in Targu Jiu.

“Our strategy to set up at least one store in each of Bucharest’s districts is confirmed by this new step. We aim at reaching full coverage of the country’s most important city by 2015, to shorten distances, to be more accessible, closer to our customers in all respects”, said Dragos Paval, CEO Dedeman, as per a press release.

Covering an area of 12,000 sqm Dedeman Colentina has a range of products with over 45,000 items, also offering flexible payment methods, including in-store financing options.

With the fast-paced expansion, the company’s domestic network will come to 50 stores by the end of 2015, which will support the consolidation strategy of the leading retailer in the building materials and interior fittings sector.

In May 2014, Dedeman announced that plans to expand its operations abroad, as well, the Republic of Moldova being the first investment destination, where will open two stores in Chisinau.  For the new project, the company projected investment of 30 million euro which will create some 400 new jobs.

Established in 1992, Dedeman is a Romanian-owned company controlled by businessmen Dragos and Adrian Paval. The retailer operates a national network of 39 stores and two logistics centers, employing over 7,000 people. Last year the retailer’s turnover amounted to 606 million euro, while profit totaled some 65 million euro.
