Dragos Paval, Dedeman’s CEO, announced yesterday during a meeting with Iurie Leanca, the Moldavian Prime Minister, that plans to expand its operations abroad, the Republic of Moldova being the first investment destination, where will open two stores in Chisinau. For this new project, Dedeman estimates investment will amount to 30 million euro, creating some 400 new jobs.
“I have been thinking about investing in the Republic of Moldova since 2007 when I started to pay regular visits to Chisinau in order to assess how things were going here. By opening our stores we will support the development of local industries which will provide products to the retail unit chain of building and furnishing materials”, said Paval, according to a press release of the Moldavian Government.
Dedeman is a Romanian-owned company established in 1992, the leading Do-it-Yourself retailer in the domestic market. With a turnover of 606 million euro last year, the company employs nearly 7,000 people in its 37 units of the national retail network.
