Vodafone Romania has opened a new IT service and support center in Bucharest to serve five telecom operators of the group from Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK, according to Mediafax. It is Vodafone’s second regional center, following the Danubius Network Operations Center inaugurated in March 2013.
“The inauguration of a shared services center in Romania is an important step that we do, following the opening of another center in 2013 where are 600 employees. We are satisfied with the services we provide through this operations center opened last year and so we decided to make a new investment. We will continue investing in Romania as we have done before. The new center has been operational for short time, already employing 100 people, but in two or three years we aim to have some hundreds of high-tech specialized employees”, said Ravinder Takkar, CEO Vodafone Romania, as per the newswire.
For equipping the center and training the new employees Vodafone invested about 6.25 million euro. Although there are currently 100 people working, the telecom company envisages a major development as regards the number of employees which is expected to increase up to 2000 in the coming three years.
“Romania was chosen given the great language skills and talent showed by the workforce, which secure delivery of high quality services at competitive costs. We have now an ambitious plan to get to over 2000 jobs in the new center in the next three years”, stated Steven McCrystal, Global Head Shared Services at Vodafone, quoted by the same source.
Vodafone’s center is located in Avrig Business Center providing support in requests related to payments, invoices or account management by phone, online chat or through back office assistance. The IT services concern help desk operations for internal activities of the UK-based group and of the five branches mentioned, along with IT applications management and database management.
