The joint Mission of the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission has begun the visit in Romania with talks at the Victoria Palace with the Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, the Minister of Finance, Ioana Maria Petrescu, and the Minister Delegate for Budget, Darius Valcov, reads Agerpres.
The delegation led by Andrea Schaechter, from behalf of the IMF and by Istvan Szekely, respresentative of the EU Commission will spent the next eight days, until December 10, in Bucharest where will meet with the Government’s representatives for talks on the draft budget law for 2015.
According to the Ministry of Finance, this mission is focused strictly on the draft budget and it does not concern any assessment of Romania's commitments undertaken to the IMF under the precautionary agreement concluded between Romania and representatives of the foreign creditors.
The draft law will subsequently be put up for public debate and submitted to the Government for approval. Hence, it is expected that the 2015 budget will be adopted this month eventually, as both Darius Valcov and Victor Ponta have previously announced.
