Romania's President Klaus Iohannis has sent a letter to leaders of parties and groups represented in Parliament, inviting them to consultations on Monday, June 26, at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, in order to designate a candidate for the prime minister office.
The National Executive Committee (CExN) of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) will convene in the days to come, while on Sunday the party's MP groups will gather to agree on who to nominate for the prime minister's office, a proposal they will forward to President Iohannis for approval, PSD national leader Liviu Dragnea said adding that he has four names in mind for the office, informs Agerpress .
"There will be a convention of the National Executive Committee in the days ahead, while on Sunday there will be a meeting of the floor groups for a final discussion with both the statutory and political board of the party and the MP colleagues that today voted for the censure motion, so that on Monday we may go to President Iohannis with a proposal," said Dragnea.
He added that a final decision on the Cabinet will be made by CEx and the floor groups alike.
Dragnea went on to say that PSD will go to the President with just one proposal, which will be from among the party members.
Governmental spokesperson Alina Petrescu said Thursday that 20 requests for the withdrawal of office resignations had been filed with the PM Office by ministers of the ousted Grindeanu Cabinet.
