The number of construction authorizations issued for residential buildings increased by 6.2% in the first eight months of 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year, to 27,605.Most of the authorizations are in the North-East region (+683), according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In the period mentioned, the growth of the number of construction authorization was reflected in the development regions: North-East (+683 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (+680), Center (+292), South-East (+177) West Oltenia (+120) and West (28).
Decreases were registered in North-West development regions (-325 permits) and South-Muntenia (-36).
In august, the number of construction authorizations for residential buildings increased by 11.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching 4.415. This result is due to the increase in demand in three regions of Romania.
Thus, according to the INS, regional distribution shows an increase in the number of construction authorization issued for residential buildings in August compared to July 2017, in the following development regions: North-East (+133 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (+83) and North-West (+78). Decreases were registered in the development regions: Center (-92 permits), South-Muntenia (-23), South-East (-19), South-West Oltenia (-18) and West (-9).
Of the number of construction authorizations issued in August, 62.8% were in rural areas.
In 2016, the number of residential buildings permits decreased by 1.2% compared to the previous year to 38.653, the decline being mainly due to the downturn in demand in the capital, Moldavia and Muntenia.
