Chinese group WH Group buys meat processing firms Elit and Vericom Romania

Chinese group WH Group the owner of Smithfield Foods announced the acquisition of two Romanian meat processing companies, Elit and Vericom.

WH Group Ltd is the world's largest pig breeding and processing company, ina strong expansion of its operations on the European market. The transaction must be approved by regulatory authorities, the Chinese group informed.

Rom Waste Solutions invested 3 million euros in its waste sorting station

Rom Waste Solutions, one of the most important companies in the field of municipal waste management and recycling in Romania, invested EUR 3 million in the refurbishment of the municipal waste sorting station in Dragomiresti Vale. Rom Waste Solutions processes about 500 tons of waste per day, over one third of municipal waste generated in Bucharest.

eMAG buys courier firm Sameday Courier

On May 30, 2017, companies involved announced the transaction by which the largest online retailer in Romania, eMag acquired the majority stakes in Romanian courier company Sameday Courier.

eMag bought 80% of the shares, the owner of the remaining 20% being Lucian Baltaru, one of the two founders of the company. Octavian Badescu, the other significant shareholder and founding partner sold the entire stake in the company.
