Ana Raducu, the minister of European Funds, stepped down from her position after Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos requested her resignation. According to the press release of the Ministry of European Funds, the Prime minister was disappointed in her activity when it comes to short term objectives. The projects she initiated are currently being implemented and represent over 40% of the 2014-2020 allocations – five programs worth 20 billion EUR from EU funds, and national co-financing. Ciolos accepted her resignation and will nominate a new minister to President Klaus Iohannis.
Following the resignation, Cristian Ghinea was appointed as the new minister for European Funds. Ghinea was state counselor for European Affairs for the prime minister. He has a bachelor degree at the National School for Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest, and a MA at London School of Economics. His expertise is based on institutional structure of the EU, democratization, media, and transparency.By Mihaela Constantin
