Romania exported in 2016, vehicles and transport equipment worth 22.48 billion euros, by 2.2 billion Euros over the level of the similar period of 2015, according to the centralized data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The vehicles and transport equipment imports stood at 21.09 billion Euros, being higher by 2.34 billion Euros in comparison to the ones in the period January-October 2015, thus registering on this segment a surplus of 1.395 billion Euros.
According to the data of the Economy Ministry, the overall worth of Romania's international commerce, in the first ten months of 2016 was over 103.43 billion Euros, increasing by 5.3 percent compared to the first ten months of 2015, the export recorded a growth of 47.767 billion Euros (+4.1 percent), and the import recorded a growth of 55.67 billion Euros (+6.4 percent). In these conditions, Romania's trade balance deficit increased by 23.2 percent, from -6.414 billion Euros (on 31 October 2015) to -7.904 billion Euros (on 31 October 2016).
The overall intra-community trade of Romania increased by 6.5 percent to 79.010 billion Euros, of which the export registered a significant growth by 6.1 percent, standing at 35.951 billion Euros, and the import recorded a growth by 6.9 percent, standing at 43.058 billion Euros. Romania's negative trade balance in regards to partners of the European Union (EU) has increased by 11.4 percent in the first ten months of 2016, in comparison to the first ten months of 2015, from -6.380 billion Euros to -7.107 billion Euros," the document reveals.
The entire commercial relations outside the community space recorded a slightly growth development due to the import growth, while the export maintained its decreasing development.
"The overall extra-community trade worth 24.428 billion Euros, higher by 1.5 percent in the first ten months of 2016 compared to the first ten months of the previous year, of which the exports stands at 11.815 billion Euros (-1.6 percent) and the import stands at 12,613 billion Euros (+4.7 percent). For the same two periods of analysis, the Romania- non-EU countries trade balance deficit has increased from -33.4 million Euros to -797.5 million Euros (+2,285.4 percent)," the quoted source mentions.
