The Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) announces that it will suspend its activity from 08 to 12 every day, between February 26 and March 8, during this period only the emergencies will be resolved, as ameasure of protest against legislative changes.
DIICOT prosecutors protest against the way the Government adopted the fourth legislative amendment within a 6-month period by "emergency law" of "the laws of justice".
"These series of substantive changes initiated within a few months are likely to seriously affect both the activity of the Superior Council of Magistracy, that of the Public Ministry and the proper functioning and stability of the justice system as a whole, with consequences on the way in which the the act of justice, "says a point of view adopted by the General Assembly of Prosecutors within the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism.
According to the prosecutors of the institution headed by Felix Bănilă, the emergency ordinance on the laws of justice has many unconstitutionality vices.
DIICOT asks the People's Advocate to refer the Constitutional Court of Romania for carrying out the constitutional control over the emergency ordinance on the laws of justice.
Prosecutors announce that they will also forward this point of view to the Court of Justice of the European Union, which has in its case files based on these provisions.
