The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) organizes the seventh edition of the "Cities of Tomorrow" conference on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 9.00 am at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, Grand Ballroom.
Cities of Tomorrow is recognized nationally as a reference event dedicated to the importance of urban and regional development, this year bringing to the fore the importance of the trialogue between public authorities, the business environment and civil society.
At this year's edition, around 300 participants are expected, coming from both the public and private sectors.
The event will be honored by the presence of special guests from Germany and Romania: this year we will bring to the public the Raumwerk D project in Düsseldorf (one of the most complex projects of public consultation and urban reconfiguration of an entire city) as well as a dialogue on the right approach large urban projects and the involvement of all relevant actors between Archbishop Eugen Pănescu and Dr. Arnold Voss, internationally renowned urban planner, active both in urban and civic spheres.
Also in Cities of Tomorrow, the results of the World Bank consultation process, "Your Town's Priorities", will be presented for the first time. This is a unique consultation process for Romanian cities and their development priorities, involving 41 municipalities, 372 strategic projects and over 72 billion euros for the development of Romania's cities. The project was completed on March 22, and on March 26, Cities of Tomorrow # 7 will deliver the results.

Prior to this 7th edition of the Cities of Tomorrow, a project competition was organized for the public administration, the business environment and civil society. We considered the factor of sustainable development in the delimitation of winning projects. Therefore, initiatives with a particular impact on this type of development, as well as on the region's marketing, quality of life, stakeholder dialogue were sought.
With the help of a jury made up of highly experienced personalities, 10 finalists out of a total of 83 proposed projects - so 10 initiatives will receive special attention during this conference.
The 10 finalist projects to be presented during the pitching session at Cities of Tomorrow are: in the Public Administration category: Resita ("Trust in Resita" - local funding program), Reghin (Reghin City App), Oradea (transformation of the historical center of Oradea ), Invest in Jiu Valley; in the middle business category: Ceetrus (Road of the Camps), Life is Hard (City Apps), Speedwell (Record Park Cluj-Napoca); in the civil society category: Over4 Association (rehabilitation of blocks), Bucharest Community Foundation (Prepared Bucharest - Major Disasters Fund), OAR (30zile.ro platform)

The "Cities of Tomorrow" conference aims to be a public awareness raising conference on sustainable development, reconversion and revitalization of Romania's regions and cities, the tasks and roles of political, business and civil society actors, the development of urban and rural infrastructure, city management (public utilities, traffic management, energy-efficient buildings), the integration of the city's central and historical areas and peripherals and beyond.
