Silcotub inaugurates a mln production line

Tenaris Silcotub inaugurated a production line of premium pipe connections for oil companies’ use in difficult environment following an investment of about $62 million Agerpres informs.

According to the Zalau based company, the new line that has a production capacity of 35.000 tons per year is equipped with high-automation system, ensuring proper health environment, safety and efficiency, as well as the best technologies available for reducing negative impact on environment.

‘Our line is designed so as to firstly provide safety in the exploitation process. You will see many touch-screen computers and very clean environment, absolutely new. This is the standard we want to adopt in all our future investments. All these required effort, teamwork.’ Michelle Della Briotta, Tenaris Eastern Europe responsible and Chairman of Tenaris Silcotub Board of Directors said during the inauguration ceremony.

He also talked about future investments, the company aims to make in Romania – ‘We will keep investing in this country. (...) This is not the end. It is a step forward to us. I hope I will be here in the future to inaugurate other investment. We have many other ideas and we also have the ability to turn these ideas in something real.’ 

The production facility has been operational for one year now, though the official inauguration has not been made until this week, this investment raising the total amount invested since 2005 to over $300 million. Silcotub, which is part of Tenaris – a company incorporated in Luxembourg, is the most important Romanian producers in the field of steel tubes used in the automotive industry, oil and gas, chemical and energy industry.
