Rompetrol Group changes its name to KazMunayGas International, based on the strategy of consolidating its operations under the original brand, thus all activities will be integrated into KMG, the Kazakh oil and gas state-owned enterprise. The decision was unanimously taken in late-February, during the company’s Board meeting, a news release informs.
“Changing the company’s name is part of the brand development strategy – KazMunayGas, and also of harnessing its activities. The umbrella brand is a prerequisite for strengthening the market position of the group of companies under KMG brand, both in Romania and for entering other foreign markets”, Zhannat Tussupbekov, Managing Director for processing crude oil and external marketing within KMG and CEO of Rompetrol, explained.
Still, the gas station network will continue its operations under the Rompetrol brand. The central management and support division of the group – The Rompetrol Group Corporate Center Romania will become KMG Rompetrol which will further provide management and other related services to all companies in the group.
KazMunayGas, which took over Rompetrol in 2007, operates more than 1.100 foreign distribution units across Romania, France, Spain, Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Bulgaria.
