The Energy Efficiency programme run by Romania’s Ministry of Economy is supported by 8 million euro grants provided by Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland. Total funds allocated to the programme, which is co-financed, come to 9.4 million, the remaining amount representing Romania’s contribution.

The programme targets Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the industry sector and aims to improve energy efficiency in the industry where pollution and energetic consumption are high, by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants. It is expected that about 20 SMEs will benefit from this programme through which their facilities and equipments will be modernized so as to reduce energy use.
