Hidroelectrica has already sold all the energy that was budgeted for sale this year, following yesterday’s bid on OPCOM, the Centralized Market of Bilateral Contracts when sold almost 920 GWh for 153 million lei (about 35 million euro). Hence, the average price came to 166.58 lei/MWh, above the price established during the previous two bids held last week, when Hidroelectrica concluded contracts for electricity for an average price of 163.3 lei. The energy sold was divided in nine packs and according to the related contracts that stipulates constant electricity deliveries at constant power (or band delivery), the established delivery period is between May 1, 2014 and April 30, 2014, a press release informs.
For the current year, the hydropower energy producer has forecasted a production of 13.9 TWh, now, fully contracted. Hidroelectrica anticipates a lower activity on the market within the next period since the weather forecast announces a dry year with rainfalls and flows below the annual average. In an average flow year, the state-owned enterprise, which is Romania’s main electricity producer and supplier, records an annual production of 17 TWh.
