Mega Image and eMAG have launched a joint platform called “Supermarket at home” aimed at offering an online supermarket experience to their clients throughout Romania, who will have access to over 7500 food and non-food products.
“The supermarket is one of the key-categories announced by eMAG this year as part of our development plan (...) It is an important step that brings us closer to achieving our main goal – to transform eMAG in the online shop from where our customers can buy anything, anytime”, said Violeta Luca, Vice President and Executive Director of eMAG.
The service is
available as from August 26, but for the moment the platform will run under a
beta version as both the range of items and the platform itself will be
adjusted and updated for improving the shopping experience, according to a
press release. Clients can choose either to pick up the products ordered or to be
delivered the order by courier.
Home deliveries will
be made within no more than 24 hours nationwide, customers being able to select
the day and time slot for delivery. Those who go on for picking up the products
can do it from the 40 Mega Image stores designated in Bucharest and Ilfov.
“By entering the online market we are expanding our proximity strategy so as to meet the needs of our customers (...)”, said Xavier Piesvaux, General Manager of Mega Image Romania, as per the release in question.
Mega Image has built a special warehouse in Bucharest
where products ordered through the new online platform will be selected and
prepared for delivery. Both online and cash payment are accepted, yet for
products picked up from Mega Image stores, only online payment is allowed.
