Turnover value in industry accelerates by 8.9 percent in the first three quarters

The turnover in industry, including both domestic and external market, increased by 8.9 percent year-on-year in nominal terms in the first nine months of 2014, on increasing values in the manufacturing (+9 percent) and mining and quarrying (+7.6 percent) field.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INSSE), the period between January and September 30, 2014 has recorded higher turnover in all sectors of the main industrial groups compared to last year: energy industry (+21.8 percent), durable goods industry (+12 percent), capital goods industry (+8.8%), intermediate goods industry (+8.6 percent) and non-durable goods industry (+4.3 percent).

In September 2014, the turnover in industry saw an overall increase by 18.3 percent over August 2014, driven by the same two sectors: manufacturing (+18.7 percent) and mining and, quarrying (+6.2 percent). Except for the energy industry which registered a decline by 2.7 percent, the other sectors of the major industrial groups improved the turnover: capital goods industry (+47.3 percent), durable goods industry (+17.1 percent), intermediate goods industry (+13.7 percent) and non-durable goods industry (+6.2 percent). Compared to the corresponding month last year, in September 2014, the turnover in industry increased overall by 8.5 percent due to rises in manufacturing (+8.7 percent) and in mining and quarrying (+1.5 percent)
