The European Commission has acknowledged the Sebes-Turda highway project as eligible for funding, the total budget required amounting to about 621.5 million euro. The budget allocated to the first phase, which has already submitted to the Commission, comes to 221 million euro, 70 percent of the amount being supported through European funds under the Operational Programme – Transport 2007-2013 (POST). The second phase of the project, evaluated at 400 million euro, will be co-financed under the next multiannual economic framework 2014-2020.
As the road infrastructure project has been declared admissible for financing, the Managing Authority for POST will issue the order approving the submission of the related reimbursement requests by CNADNR.
The project involves construction of 70 km of highway to secure connection between A1 Sibiu – Sebes – Orastie – Deva – Timisoara – Arad - Nadlac, part of Pan-European Corridor IV and A3 Brasov – Fagaras – Targu Mures – Turda – Cluj Napoca – Oradea - Bors (Transylvania Highway).
According to the project implementation timetable indicated in the grant application, the corresponding period of execution is September 2014 – June 2016.
