Romania's hydropower sector, waiting for the feed-in tariff

A strategic component of the National Energy System (NES), the hydropower sector is strongly affected by the burdensome taxes, such as those on special constructions, water use or the lease price for low river beds, as well as by the problems caused by an unstable legislative framework or the trading of green certificates.

Five offers for the 1-billion euro hydropower project from Tarnita-Lapustesti

Hidro Tarnita, the company in charge with the development of the hydropower plant located in Tarnita-Lapustesti, the Cluj County, received five preliminary offers from investors interested to engage in the 1-billion euro project. The deadline for submitting pre-qualification documents required in this first phase of the selection process was January 30, 2015.

Hidroelectrica puts up for sell another 33 SHPs for nearly 19 mln euro

Romania’s main electricity producer and supplier plans to sell additional 33 small hydropower plants (SHPs) from its portfolio of 128 power stations through an auction which will be conducted in February 2015, said Remus Borza, representative of Euro Insol, the judicial administrator of Hidroelectrica (in insolvency since February 2014), according to Mediafax.
