Construction works may finally kick off at Romania's new motorways

The government is initiating again the procedures for the construction of Sibiu-Pitesti, Targu Mures-Iasi and Comarnic-Brasov motorways. "I believe that it is possible this year we initiate all that means procedures in the case of the Sibiu-Pitesti, Targu Mures-Iasi and Comarnic-Brasov motorways, so that construction works may finally kick off” says Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

Timber business goes up in flames

The Competition Council asked for European Commission's opinion on the establishment of a 30 per cent limit for the volume of timber from each species that a company should be allowed to purchase, before introducing the measure in the draft law that will amend the existing Forestry Code. According to a release of the competition authority sent to Agerpress, the maintaining of a limit for the acquisition of timber could contradict the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union in terms of the free movement of goods, which might trigger an infringement procedure against Romania.

EU funding for 40 start-ups: EUR25,000 for each of 40 business ideas

400 youths will benefit from entrepreneurial education and 40 business ideas will be supported through European funding totaling EUR1,000,000 as part of the “Entrepreneurship - a chance for a better future for youths” programme run by the Ilfov County Council in partnership with the Travel Focus Association and the Excelsior Association.
